History and Culture
Weizhou Island is China's youngest volcanic island in terms of geology and the largest island in Guangxi. Crocodile Ridge, where the Nanwan Crocodile Mountain Scenic Area sits, has witnessed the history of volcanic activity on Weizhou Island. In ancient times, the area experienced multiple volcanic eruptions. The flowing lava cooled and solidified, forming the unique volcanic landforms seen today.
Local fishermen have lived here for generations, coexisting with the marine and volcanic environment, which has given rise to a distinctive marine culture and fishing traditions. They hold a deep reverence for nature and have passed down ancient fishing techniques and lifestyles. These cultural elements add a rich humanistic touch to the scenic area.
With the development of tourism, Nanwan Crocodile Mountain Scenic Area has gradually become an important window for visitors to learn about volcanic geology and experience marine culture, attracting more and more tourists to explore the mysteries of nature and immerse themselves in the unique regional culture.
Major Attractions
