Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area is located in Qingxiu District, Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The scenic area features rolling peaks, lush green forests, secluded cliffs, clear springs, and unique rock formations, renowned for its distinctive natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
The scenic area covers 13.54 square kilometres, with the core scenic area spanning 6.43 square kilometres. It is home to a wide variety of subtropical plants, many of which remain evergreen throughout the year, forming a vast natural botanical garden. The area also boasts numerous buildings of diverse architectural styles, such as the Zhuang Brocade Square with its ethnic characteristics and the classical Longxiang Pagoda, which complement the natural scenery beautifully.
History and Culture:
Qingxiu Mountain has a long history. According to historical records, as early as the Eastern Jin Dynasty, monks built thatched huts on the mountain for meditation and Buddhist worship, making it one of Nanning's Buddhist sacred sites. Over the centuries, many literati and poets left behind poems and verses praising the mountain, adding to its profound cultural depth.
During the Ming Dynasty, the prefect of Nanning built numerous pavilions and towers on Qingxiu Mountain, turning it into a popular tourist destination. In the Qing Dynasty, further developments took place, and the Longxiang Pagoda was constructed during this period. It has since become one of the landmark structures of Qingxiu Mountain.
In modern times, the mountain has undergone continuous restoration and expansion, with many new attractions and facilities added. It has gradually developed into a comprehensive scenic area integrating sightseeing, leisure and entertainment, and science education.
Major Attractions
Longxiang Pagoda:
Also known as Qingshan Pagoda, the Longxiang Pagoda is the iconic landmark of Qingxiu Mountain. Standing at 52.35 metres tall, it is a nine?storey, octagonal, pavilion?style brick pagoda in a simple, elegant greyish?blue colour. Climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of Nanning city, with the Yongjiang River winding like a silk ribbon and the urban architecture arranged in picturesque order. Surrounded by verdant trees, the pagoda is a must?visit photo spot for tourists.
Thousand?Year Cycad Garden:
This garden is one of the largest and most diverse cycad specialty gardens in China. It houses nearly a hundred cycads that are over a thousand years old, along with many other varieties, totalling more than 10,000 plants. The cycads come in various shapes—some tall and straight, others petite and delicate—showcasing their unique charm. Visitors can learn about the growth habits and evolutionary history of cycads and marvel at the wonders of nature.
Zhuang Brocade Square:
This square is a highlight of ethnic culture within Qingxiu Mountain. It features a large Zhuang brocade sculpture with vivid colours and exquisite patterns, representing the traditional weaving art of the Zhuang people.
