Dmitry Sergeyevich Meyerhold (1865-1941), as a writer, poet, critic, and thinker, played a significant role in reviving the interest in religious philosophy among Russian intellectuals in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Between 1900 and 1902, he proposed a mystical, neo-Christian doctrine that advocated the sacredness of both the body and the spirit, opposing the singular worship of the body represented by paganism and the singular worship of the soul represented by the Christian Church. At the age of 35-37 in 1900-1902, he wrote the grandiose critical masterpiece Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. The book was serialized in the Art World magazine from 1900 to 1902, and later the magazine published it as a standalone volume. In 1903, Pyzhikov Publishing released the third edition, which was later included in the 24-volume complete works in 1914, the Moscow edition (volumes 9-12). In these 24 volumes, the chapter summaries for the upper and lower parts of the second section were not included.
