Historical Culture

Jizhou District, where Jizhou Karst Cave is located, has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of human civilization in the Tianjin area. The formation and evolution of the cave itself carry long geological and historical information and are a natural "archive" of Earth's evolution. According to geological research, during 1.8 billion years of geological changes, the cave experienced multiple crustal movements and water erosion, gradually forming today's cave landscape. There are also many local folk legends about the cave. It is said that in ancient times Taoist priests practiced here, and the strange landscapes inside the cave were regarded as a symbol of "gathering spiritual energy," attracting nearby people to come and pray. These legends add a mysterious cultural color to the cave and also reflect local people's awe and imagination toward natural wonders.

Main Cave Area

The main cave area is the core landscape of Jizhou Karst Cave. The temperature inside the cave remains constant at about 18°C all year round, making it feel like spring in all four seasons. A stone pillar 15 meters high stands like the stabilizing sea needle, surrounded by layer upon layer of stone curtains, as if it were the dragon palace scene in mythology. The "Crystal Curtain" is composed of fine stalactites. Under the illumination of lights, it is crystal clear, just like a crystal curtain hanging on the cave wall. The cave is also equipped with a lighting system. Lights of different colors shine on the stalactites, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.

The Thousand-Meter Slide is located on the mountain body of the cave scenic area, with a total length of about 1,000 meters. It is a convenient passage connecting the cave exit with the foot of the mountain and is also a fun amusement project. The slide is paved with marble and runs down along the mountain terrain. Tourists ride special sliding mats and can control their speed by themselves. During the descent, they can both enjoy the mountain scenery and experience the thrill of sliding. It is suitable for tourists of all ages.

Surrounding Food

There are many farmhouses in Hongshuizhuang Village and Luozhuangzi Town around the scenic area, offering authentic Jizhou farm dishes. "Cornmeal Cakes with Stewed Small Fish" is a classic combination. Cornmeal batter is made into cakes and stuck to the side of the pot, while small fish caught from the tributaries of the Jiyun River are stewed at the bottom of the pot. The cakes absorb the freshness and aroma of the fish, and the small fish are tender and flavorful, with a unique flavor. "Stewed Free-Range Chicken with Sheet Jelly" uses free-range chickens raised by farmers, paired with locally made sheet jelly. After stewing, the sheet jelly is full of the aroma of chicken soup, and the chicken is soft and delicious. It is one of the signature dishes of the farmhouses. In addition, the surrounding "persimmon vinegar" is also very distinctive. It is fermented from locally abundant persimmons.
