History and Culture

Anjiagou has a long history. As early as the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was an important area on which local villagers depended for survival. The mountain springs and land in the gully nourished generation after generation of villagers. According to historical records, there were several water mills in the gully at that time, which used water power to process grain and became an important part of local agricultural production. The ruins of these water mills still remain in the scenic area today, witnessing the development of ancient local agricultural civilization.

In addition, Anjiagou also has special historical significance in modern times. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, it was one of the important areas where the Eighth Route Army carried out guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines. The complex terrain in the gully made it easy to conceal and move, and it contributed to the victory of the War of Resistance. Through display boards, sculptures, and other forms, the scenic area presents this period of history, allowing visitors to learn about the struggles of the revolutionary predecessors while enjoying the natural scenery.
