Historical Culture
Wuzhizhou Island was known as "Guqizhou" in ancient times. After Sanya City was established in Hainan, when government departments were verifying place names, they found that the island shared the same name as another small island in Hainan, so it was renamed "Wuzhizhou Island."
Wuzhizhou Island was once a military restricted zone, and some remains of military facilities are preserved on the island. With the development of Hainan's tourism industry, Wuzhizhou Island was gradually developed into a tourist attraction. Its rich marine resources and unique natural scenery have attracted a large number of tourists. Today, Wuzhizhou Island is not only a tourist destination but also an important window for displaying Hainan's marine culture and tropical charm.
Main Attractions
Lover's Bridge
Lover's Bridge was originally a chain suspension bridge and served as a maritime lookout point for the troops stationed on the island at that time. Walking on the swaying chain bridge required some courage and agility. Some young women wanted to cross the bridge to experience the lookout point but were afraid of falling into the sea, so they held tightly to their friends' hands while crossing. Therefore, the bridge was jokingly called "Lover's Bridge." Later, the scenic area converted the chain bridge into today's wooden bridge, about 100 meters long, making it one of the must-visit attractions for couples.
