Meixin Wine Town

Meixin Wine Town is located in Linshi Subdistrict, Fuling District, Chongqing, at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Lixiang Creek, adjacent to the ancient town of Linshi. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction and a multifaceted tourism destination integrating leisure and entertainment, folk customs, wine culture, and family-friendly activities. Its core features are the "blending of European charm with Bayu folk customs" and the "combination of wine culture with rural leisure." The scenic area has a total planned area of about 5 square kilometers, with a core construction area of approximately 1.8 square kilometers. It boasts over 200 buildings, including about 80 in European style and about 120 in traditional Bayu residential style, with a total construction floor area of 150,000 square meters. Leveraging the landscape and historical heritage of Linshi Ancient Town, the scenic area has created a tourism complex themed around wine culture, encompassing amusement facilities, specialty commerce, accommodation and dining, and folk experience sections. It preserves the historical features of the old town while incorporating elements of modern leisure tourism, making it a popular destination for leisure travel in Fuling and the suburbs of Chongqing.

History and Culture

Linshi Subdistrict, where Meixin Wine Town is situated, boasts a long history. Linshi Ancient Town was established during the Tang Dynasty, with a history of over 1,300 years. It was named for its ancient abundance of rushes (Lincao) and has been a千年 riverside town along the Yangtze River, historically serving as an important commercial hub along the Fuling riverbank and a key distribution center for materials in the eastern Sichuan region. Numerous Ming and Qing dynasty buildings and folk cultural relics remain, such as the Longmen Bridge and Wanshou Palace, which bear witness to the town's commercial prosperity and cultural heritage.

In 2003, Meixin Group settled in Linshi Subdistrict and began developing a wine-themed tourist attraction based on the local natural scenery and the ancient town's heritage, combining wine culture with the Bayu folk culture of Linshi Ancient Town. During development, emphasis was placed on protecting and preserving local history and culture, retaining historical elements such as the bluestone-paved streets, old docks, and traditional residences, while introducing cultural experience projects like winemaking, tasting, and exhibitions. This formed a unique "wine ancient town" cultural fusion model. Additionally, the scenic area has revived intangible cultural heritage such as the Chuanjiang Haozi (river boatmen's work songs), Fuling Zhacai (pickled mustard tuber) making techniques, and Linshi Dry Land Boat Dance, and regularly hosts folk cultural activities, allowing visitors to experience the charm of traditional Bayu culture during their visit.

With the development of the scenic area, Meixin Wine Town has gradually become an important benchmark for cultural and tourism integration in Fuling. Its model of integrating industrial brand culture (Meixin), wine culture, and ancient town history has also provided a reference for rural tourism and ancient town development. In 2010, the scenic area was rated as a national AAA-level tourist attraction, and since then, it has continuously improved its cultural tourism facilities and enriched cultural experience content, becoming one of the representative cultural tourism integration attractions in the Chongqing suburbs. In 2024, it was rated as a AAAA-level tourist attraction, adding the nearly 800-meter-altitude "Eye of Rural Revitalization" Ferris wheel. In 2025, it was awarded the title of "Sichuan-Chongqing Night Landmark."
