Author: Zhang Xijiang, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2006-11-01
Features: Under the guidance of the Writing Committee for Medical Textbooks of Higher Medical Colleges under the Ministry of Health, the authors compiled this fifth edition of the Dermatology and Venereology textbook for use in medical higher vocational colleges across the country. During the writing process, the authors paid special attention to the scientificity, systematic nature, and applicability of the textbook, emphasizing the integration of theory and practice. They focused on introducing the fundamental theories, basic knowledge, and essential skills of dermatology and venereology, incorporating 102 common skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases. When describing each disease, the authors emphasized its clinical characteristics and key points of prevention and treatment, aiming to enhance students' ability to recognize diseases and solve practical problems independently. Additionally, considering that dermatology and venereology is a discipline with strong morphological characteristics, the book includes 108 color illustrations of typical cases of common skin diseases and venereal diseases at the end. The fourth edition of the textbook has been published for five years. Over the past five years, especially since the beginning of the new century, China's medical education, scientific research, medical and health services, and prevention and health care have undergone significant development and changes. Basic theoretical research, diagnostic techniques, and prevention and treatment levels for dermatology and venereology have also made considerable progress, while the incidence of certain diseases has increased. Some content in the fourth edition can no longer meet the demands of the new situation. Therefore, we revised the fourth edition to form the fifth edition. The differences between this edition and the fourth edition are as follows: supplementary recent achievements in basic theoretical research, diagnostic techniques, and prevention and treatment, particularly providing a more detailed introduction to sexually transmitted diseases. Significant revisions and additions were also made to chapters on fungal skin diseases, viral skin diseases, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, connective tissue diseases, and pemphigus, and a new chapter on hereditary and metabolic skin diseases was added.
