Features: Reviewing the history of the postgraduate entrance exam English listening test: From being ignored and excluded from the exam content before 2002, to appearing as a reference score in 2002, to becoming an official exam component in 2003 (accounting for 20% of the total score), and to the recent increase in the listening section's weight to 30% of the total score, it is evident that the "popularity" of listening is rising in an irreversible trend.
Under such a trend, based on the development of the situation and the needs of candidates, we have organized renowned professors with nearly a decade of experience in postgraduate entrance exam tutoring and teaching. After nearly hundreds of days and nights of meticulous research and refinement, we have created this book. The book integrates methodological explanations with skillful tips, following the principle of progressing from easy to difficult, and its basic features are as follows:
1. Starting from the basics, a special section is set up for "Syllabus Essentials/Analysis," "Preparation Plan," "Language/Phonetics Basics," and "Cultural Background Knowledge" to help candidates quickly familiarize themselves with the syllabus and build a solid language foundation before entering formal review.
2. Closely aligning with candidates' weak areas, specialized skill training is provided. This section includes fundamental skill training to strengthen listening foundations (e.g., practice with numbers and signal words) as well as skill-based training and tips to help candidates improve their exam performance in a short period.
3. Based on the specific items of the exam and the needs of candidates during review, 50 single-item exercises and 5 sets of simulated mock tests are provided to make candidates' review more targeted. Additionally, detailed explanations of questions from various angles are given to address common issues encountered during review (a unique feature among similar books), as if a master teacher is present for on-site guidance.
4. The selected materials are rich and diverse, keeping pace with exam trends. The materials cover various genres, such as notices, speeches, weather forecasts, general conversations, presentations, and lectures, which help candidates understand the patterns of different types of content. Key vocabulary related to each listening passage is provided after the transcripts to aid candidates in better mastering listening vocabulary.
This book is accompanied by 3 audio cassettes with a total duration of 90 minutes, recorded by foreign experts with clear pronunciation, including both British and American accents. The recordings strictly adhere to the exam syllabus requirements and are conducted at the speed of actual exam questions. A postgraduate entrance exam value-added card worth 60 yuan is also included with the book.
