Features: This political economy textbook has the following characteristics:
First, the unity of adherence and development. It firmly adheres to the basic principles of political economy that have explanatory and guiding power over reality, without wavering. In terms of writing style, it simplifies complexity and makes it easy to understand. It briefly discusses recognized innovations in academia, such as the new developments in the labor theory of value, the general and specific aspects of capital and rent, the distribution according to factors of production, the "going global" strategy, new industrialization, and the well-rounded construction of a moderately prosperous society.
Second, the unity of systematic completeness and highlighting key points. The systematic completeness of the content is reflected in the fact that both the capitalist and socialist sections include dedicated chapters on production, exchange, distribution, and consumption, while also emphasizing marketization and economic globalization. This is particularly evident in the capitalist section, which emphasizes and elaborates on theories related to the general principles of the market economy, and in the socialist section, which highlights and emphasizes the basic framework or five pillars of the socialist market economy system, such as modern enterprise systems, modern market systems, distribution, social security, and macroeconomic regulation. Both the capitalist and socialist sections also emphasize the discussion of economic internationalization and economic globalization.
Third, the combination of theory and practice. This textbook is not just a theoretical narration or a mere accumulation of materials. Instead, it uses a wealth of historical and contemporary materials to explain basic theories, ensuring that the textbook's perspectives are grounded in rigorous theoretical deduction, natural logical extension, and solid factual proof, giving it a practical and realistic quality.
Fourth, this textbook has a high degree of inclusivity and broad applicability. We strive to use the sum of human economic knowledge to outline the textbook's content. We aim to promote a scientific spirit of seeking truth from facts, pursuing science, pursuing truth, and keeping pace with the times. As long as a scientific truth is relevant today, we embrace it. The textbook is of moderate length, with nine chapters in both the capitalist and socialist sections, making the two major sections roughly equal in size. It is suitable as a political economy textbook for various levels, types, and disciplines, particularly for economics and management majors.
Fifth, the author team consists of full professors and associate professors from major universities in Hunan Province who have long been engaged in teaching specialized political economy courses, representing a high level of expertise. They have extensive teaching experience and have edited or co-edited multiple political economy textbooks. We strive to absorb the essence of existing versions of political economy textbooks, combining new developments in practice and new advances in theory, grounded in the reality of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, while looking toward the world and the future, to produce a high-level textbook.
