Features: Simulation practice exercises, vocabulary pronunciation and explanations; detailed exercise answers, Chinese reference translations! In 2005, the Ministry of Education adjusted the structure of the postgraduate entrance examination English paper, eliminating the listening section and adding reading section B tests and application letter writing. Analyzing the structure of the English paper, reading comprehension and English knowledge application account for a total of 70 points, becoming the main part of the exam content. A candidate's ability to achieve good results in these 70 points directly determines whether their English score is qualified. Based on our experience in teaching postgraduate entrance exams, candidates must conduct targeted, extensive, and rapid practice to achieve good results. Through rigorous, systematic, scientific, and targeted training, candidates can develop super-strong, feel confident, and secure victory in the exam. With this purpose in mind, this book provides candidates with a large number of practical exercises to quickly improve their knowledge in grammar, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, logic, context, social and cultural background, and other aspects, helping them enhance their comprehensive ability in English knowledge and language skills in a short period of time.
Reading Comprehension: Provides 170 reading passages, including 150 passages for section A (multiple-choice questions) and 20 passages for section B (matching questions). A total of over 1,000 questions are included, equipped with "vocabulary and phrases," "answers and explanations," and "reference translations." The content covers the political, economic, cultural, historical, technological, humanistic, linguistic, and social backgrounds of English-speaking countries, strengthening the use of habitual expressions in English vocabulary, phrases, and sentence structures, enabling candidates to quickly develop comprehensive problem-solving skills. Nearly 400 simulated practice questions for section C (English-Chinese translation) are provided, with translation answers, to cultivate candidates' ability to accurately understand English sentences in context and express them correctly in Chinese, ensuring translations are accurate, complete, and fluent. The characteristics of English-Chinese translation questions are long sentences, complex structures, and relatively abstract content. Candidates must gradually master the translation techniques for long sentences. For particularly difficult sentences in the exercises, they should tackle them head-on. In the initial stages, candidates can first look up unfamiliar words in the "vocabulary and phrases" section, understand them correctly, and express them fluently, while repeatedly comparing with the answers.
English Knowledge Application: Provides 35 practice passages with 700 practice questions. English knowledge application (i.e., cloze test) primarily assesses reading ability, with the first step being to clearly understand the main idea of the passage. Cloze questions can be categorized into four types: vocabulary, grammatical structure, collocation, and discourse cohesion, with vocabulary questions being the most common and a key focus of the exam. The book provides hints for solving problems, and candidates should summarize these methods during practice.
