A renowned crosstalk artist, she holds the title of a first-class state performer, serves as the vice president of the CROSSTALK Association of the China Coal Mine Federation of Literature and Art, and enjoys special government subsidies. In 1960, she began learning the craft under her famous father, the crosstalk master Lian Keru, becoming the sole inheritor of the Lian-style crosstalk. Since 1994, she has recorded numerous crosstalk performances for "Liyi Huosheng" Radio and the International Broadcasting Radio in Singapore. In June 1998, she was invited to deliver crosstalk performances of Romance of the Three Kingdoms in five major cities in Malaysia, causing a sensation. Her influential representative works include Romance of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, The Great Sui Dynasty, and Kangxi's Private Visit and others. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. A story inscribed on a single stone, it tells of a fated golden union, emotions that cannot be twisted within the heavens, and a tragic, lingering love in a timeless classic. Lian Liru's crosstalk adaptation of Dream of the Red Chamber presents a fresh narrative performance, focusing on the love and marriage tragedy among Jia Baoyu, Lin Daiyu, and Xue Baochai, while depicting the decline of a feudal aristocratic family. Through this, it explores the philosophical concept of "when water overflows, it spills; when the moon is full, it wanes; when ascending high, one must fall; joy leads to sorrow; and extremes meet." It reveals that fame and disgrace have always cycled through history, an "impermanence" that cannot be sustained by human effort. The entire work vividly recreates the life of a feudal aristocratic family filled with contradictions.
