Effective thinking

Features: In the autumn of 1936, I gave a report titled "Thinking" at the annual meeting of the Adult Education College in the UK. This report was later published. I would like to thank the Adult Education College for allowing me to use some of its content. However, the creation of this book was due to a suggestion from the British Broadcasting Corporation. They proposed that I expand the topic of the report and select its essence to form twelve lectures. For various reasons, I did not broadcast these lectures, but I did prepare outlines for them. Although the manuscript was not returned to me, this book is based on my initial ideas, and nine chapters of it are exactly the same as the prepared lecture titles. Due to heavy work and other difficulties, this book was only completed this summer. I firmly believe that a democratic nation urgently needs clear thinking, free from distortions caused by unconscious biases and bewildering ignorance. Sometimes our failures in thinking are due to certain errors, and if we clearly see how these errors arise, we could, to some extent, eliminate them. The purpose of this book is to make some effort in this regard.
