Features: To implement the "Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China," and to prevent the pollution of the atmospheric environment caused by the exhaust emissions of motorcycles and moped, this standard has been formulated. This standard specifies the limits and measurement methods for the rapid acceleration exhaust smoke emissions of motorcycles and moped models, including type approval, production consistency inspection, and on-road vehicle emission inspection tests. This is the first issuance of this standard. Appendices A and B of this standard are normative appendices. In accordance with relevant legal provisions, this standard has mandatory enforcement authority. This standard was proposed and supervised by the Technology and Standards Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration. The drafting unit of this standard is the Tianjin Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute (Tianjin Motorcycle Technology Center). This standard was approved by the State Environmental Protection Administration on May 30, 2005. This standard shall come into effect on July 1, 2005. The State Environmental Protection Administration is responsible for interpreting this standard.
