The Dongjiang Port Area, by contrast, is an emerging port area formed in modern times through large-scale land reclamation projects. Its construction began in the early 21st century and was one of the important measures of the state to promote the development and opening up of Binhai New Area.

As an important carrier of the leisure tourism function of Dongjiang Port Area, Dongjiang Bay Beach Scenic Area has a relatively short history and was officially opened to the public in 2010. Its completion not only enriched Tianjin's tourism resources, but also provided local residents and outside visitors with a new place to get close to the sea for leisure and entertainment. It witnessed the transformation of Binhai New Area from an industrial port area to a multifunctional comprehensive area, reflecting the harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, and between industry and tourism.
