Features: With the gradual deepening of China's reform and opening-up and the rapid development of the economy, the demand for design continues to grow. Art design academies have sprouted across the country like mushrooms after rain. How to adapt design education to social development, how to establish a perfect design teaching system, how to highlight the distinctive features of their programs, how to improve discipline construction, and how to enhance teaching quality have become key concerns. Textbooks are the key to these priorities. This is a series of textbooks designed for art academies and design programs. The contributors are all mid-level and core faculty members in art academies with extensive teaching experience, a rigorous academic attitude, and a strong sense of mission and responsibility. Before writing, the Chongqing University of Technology Press organized multiple discussions to reach a consensus, resulting in the following features of this series:
The overall framework of this series of textbooks is determined based on the development trends of art design education in the 21st century, employment trends, and actual curriculum design. Based on the assessment of currently mature reference materials and textbooks, the series aims to leverage strengths while addressing weaknesses. The writing core focuses on the fundamental knowledge and skills that undergraduate students in art design must master. At the same time, considering the characteristics of art education, it provides teachers with flexibility to teach according to their practical experience and theoretical inclinations.
As textbooks for art design programs, the writing process emphasizes the transition from fine arts to design, highlighting the distinctive features of art design. Attention is also paid to the teacher-student relationship, reflecting both teaching characteristics and learning elements. Excessive use of illustrations is avoided; the examples used serve as visual explanations and demonstrations of knowledge and skills.
Design should be part of the national innovation system, and it will play a new and more important role in the development of various industries. With economic globalization, our design must create new knowledge domains and skills to adapt to increasingly fierce and competitive environments. As an arts-based discipline, art design education needs to continuously evaluate its teaching objectives and adjust its development direction. The writing of textbooks should explore the modernity of art design, reflect its contemporary characteristics, and explore its development trends. This textbook has made certain levels of exploration in these areas.
