Features: Organized by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, the Undergraduate Teaching Modeling Competition has played a significant role in cultivating students' ability to solve practical problems and their innovative awareness, as well as promoting teaching reform. This competition has now become the largest extracurricular science and technology activity for college students in China. The key to better leveraging its role lies in the outstanding competition topics and papers. Based on years of experience as a coach and participating in national and provincial evaluations, the author conducts in-depth research on international and domestic competition problems over the years, selects over a dozen recent competition topics with ample research potential and high creativity, such as channel optimization allocation, bus scheduling, west-to-east natural gas transportation, tool renewal, fund utilization, gangue stacking, minimum broadcast graph, part parameters, drilling layout, void detection, lock packing, and high-speed collisions. Building on outstanding papers, the author explores these problems to achieve near-perfect solutions, publishes multiple academic papers, and has given trial lectures at several universities, which have been highly welcomed by graduate and undergraduate students. The lectures have also provided valuable insights for teaching modeling coaches, especially in fostering creative thinking.
Target Audience: Faculty and students in higher education institutions and enthusiasts of mathematical applications.
