It was the most outstanding publication worldwide last year! It's a joyous beginning for both his career and the trilogy. When Eragon discovers a smooth blue stone in the forest, he initially thinks it's just a stroke of luck for a poor boy—perhaps he could use it to trade for some meat to see the family through the winter. But when a young dragon hatches from the stone, Eragon quickly realizes that he has stumbled upon the descendant of an ancient race, whose history rivals that of the empire. Overnight, Eragon's ordinary life is shattered as he suddenly finds himself thrust into a dangerous new world of fate, magic, and power, armed with nothing but an ancient sword and the guidance of an old storyteller. Eragon and the newborn dragon, Bluefang, must venture into perilous lands and confront vicious enemies—the Empire, where the king's evil is boundless. Can Eragon take up the legacy of the Dragon Rider? The fate of the Empire lies in his hands.
