Patient's question:
A 3.5-year-old boy underwent a CTU in October 2008 due to ureteral cyst, which included eight large images, each containing over twenty small images. In November 2008, he had an IVP, which included six large images. I've heard that exposure to radiation is harmful to children, but I'm unsure whether these two examinations could affect the child's growth and development or cause any other health issues. I would greatly appreciate your reply in your busy schedule. Thank you!Doctor's answer:
If the damage from radiation were that strong, I guess there wouldn't be any children undergoing such examinations. According to medical advice, examinations are generally not associated with adverse reactions when they are necessary. I don't think the situation you mentioned would produce any adverse reactions.
