Treatment for Bell's Palsy?

Patient's question:

The child is now 2.5 years old and has been sick for over a year. Facial neuritis has not been completely cured, and there are sequelae, which are becoming increasingly severe.

Doctor's answer:

Generally, a child's facial paralysis is caused by facial nerve inflammation triggered by upper respiratory infections or other factors. Hormone treatment within the first week of onset, followed by infrared therapy and other nerve rehabilitation treatments, will only improve over time. Although some may not fully recover, the condition will not worsen.
If your child's condition has been worsening for over a year, you may need to:
1. Take your child to an otolaryngology department and neurosurgery department for examination to check for craniopharyngioma or other conditions that continuously affect the facial nerve and may be accompanied by auditory nerve issues.
2. Visit a pediatric neurology specialist for a head MRI to assess whether there is any demyelinating disease of the brain or spinal cord affecting the facial nerve or its function.
