In this book, "Pets and Their Owners," the illustrator Lola Ward created a beautiful illustration: my mother knitting a sweater, with a parrot nestled on her hair. Unfortunately, this illustration was not included in the final version of the book. I don't understand why the publisher did not choose that illustration—it so perfectly captures the relationship between humans and pets. At that time, my mother had a blue parrot named George, who considered her place as the best home.
