Party School Bookstore - Representative Novels of Famous Contemporary Chinese Writers

Author: Lu Tianming
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2007-01-01
Features: In the 1950s and 1960s, our publishing house organized the publication of a nationwide selection of outstanding long novels, showcasing the style and level of long novel creation at that time. After the new era, the number of long novels surged, with themes, styles, and techniques becoming increasingly diverse. To more comprehensively reflect the achievements of long novel creation during this period, in May 2004, we edited and published the series "Representative Works of Famous Contemporary Chinese Novelists," featuring the works of twenty-five writers. These works excelled in depth, uniqueness, or had sparked strong responses, or were widely favored by readers. The series received positive social feedback after publication. For this re-publication, we adjusted the original series' selection, added more works, and included those that won the Mao Dun Literature Prize in the "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners." As a result, the selection of the "Representative Works of Famous Contemporary Chinese Novelists" series has become more complete and comprehensive, aligning with our previously published "Contemporary Chinese Long Novel Collection" and "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners," creating a cohesive and complementary reading experience. This allows readers to gain a clearer understanding of the development trajectory and overall style of long novel creation since the founding of New China from different stages and perspectives. This book is a comprehensive long novel that vividly portrays the high-level political life and figures in contemporary China. The author, with the spirit of a historian, grandeur, and a suspenseful writing style, boldly delves into the little-known world of "Party Secretary of the Provincial Committee," successfully shaping the images of three generations of Party Secretaries represented by Gong Kaichen. It vividly and delicately depicts their passion and heroic tragedies in the face of belief, career, conscience, family, emotions, setbacks, and mistakes. It profoundly reveals how corrupt officials, who prioritize personal gain at the expense of their power and integrity, emerged in this specific era. The work is emotionally resonant and compelling, maintaining the author's consistent demeanor of "daring to lead the world" and "speaking for the people," as well as his creative style of "thrilling plots," "profound characters," "overlapping suspense," and "profound artistic conception." It once again embodies his long-held belief that "writing should be recognized and loved by the common people of China and should engage in the transformation of the current era."
