Features: In the 1950s and 1960s, our press organized the publication of a nationwide selection of outstanding long novels, showcasing the style and level of long novel creation at the time. After the New Period, the number of long novels surged, with themes, styles, and techniques becoming increasingly diverse. To more comprehensively reflect the achievements of long novel creation during this era, in May 2004, we edited and published the series "Representative Works of Renowned Contemporary Chinese Novelists," featuring the works of twenty-five writers. These works excelled in depth, uniqueness, evoking strong responses, or were widely favored by readers. The series received positive social feedback after publication. For this re-publication, we adjusted the original series' selection, adding more works, while incorporating those that won the Mao Dun Literature Prize into the "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners." As a result, the "Representative Works of Renowned Contemporary Chinese Novelists" series now offers a more complete and comprehensive selection, aligning with our previously published "Contemporary Chinese Long Novel Collection" and "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners," creating a cohesive and complementary reading experience. This allows readers to gain a clearer understanding of the development trajectory and overall style of long novel creation since the founding of New China from different stages and perspectives. This is Li Rui's debut long novel, a masterfully crafted work with concise content and a unique style.
