Pipes are important tools and indispensable means for diagnosing and treating diseases in clinical practice. In clinical settings, various types of pipes are not only used for the diagnosis and treatment of general diseases but also for life-saving interventions for critically ill patients. They can serve as a primary treatment method or as essential supportive measures in the treatment process. This field involves all clinical disciplines and various parts of the human body, making its application extremely broad and its application types highly diverse. Therefore, pipe application and care are common medical and nursing issues encountered by healthcare professionals. Currently, although clinical pipes are widely used, pipe care knowledge is scattered sporadically across various medical and nursing reference books. To date, there has been no systematic and comprehensive reference book on pipe care. In light of this, we organized a group of more than ten nursing experts and teachers from two teaching hospitals, Union Hospital affiliated to Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Tongji Hospital, to compile this book, "Clinical Pipe Nursing." The book consists of eleven chapters, which provide detailed explanations on ordinary pipes used in various clinical departments, special pipes used in different specialties, and especially the interventional and laparoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic pipe technologies that have developed in recent years due to the application of new technologies and methods. These chapters cover aspects such as indications, contraindications, item preparation, catheterization methods, nursing, and health education, aiming to standardize, systematize, and scientize clinical pipe nursing. The book is accompanied by numerous illustrations to aid in comprehension. We strive to make the content comprehensive, systematic, and possess novelty, scientific rigor, and strong practicality. If the publication of this book can provide valuable references for clinical nursing and nursing education, we will be immensely gratified. Since pipe technology is both ancient and emerging, the principles and techniques of modern pipe nursing are continuously being updated and refined. Moreover, due to the limitations of our knowledge and experience, there may inevitably be inaccuracies or errors in the book. We sincerely invite all readers to kindly correct any shortcomings.
