Features: Research on Television News Programs was completed in 1998 and published by Beijing Normal University Press in January 1999. By 2005, it had been reprinted four times. This revision has been renamed Television News: Synchronous with Events. The book has been selected as a teaching material for radio and television programs by several journalism schools, which is a source of great satisfaction for the author. Synchronous with the times, the development of television news industry is also advancing with the times and constantly innovating. The new century brings new developments. 2003 was a memorable year for television news professionals. The coverage of major international events, the Iraq War, and major domestic events, the SARS epidemic, provided television news people with a major training ground. In May, the official launch of China Central Television's News Channel marked a new milestone in Chinese television news. The research on television news has also evolved from discussions on individual reports to program studies, and today has expanded to the study of columns and channels. Supported by high technology, the reporting and dissemination methods of television news programs have been advancing at a rapid pace. The routine use of on-site reporting and live links, as well as the normalization of live coverage of major events, has led to changes in the dissemination philosophy of television news. The new practices and new concepts of television news should be reflected in the textbook, and the construction of teaching materials also needs to be revised, supplemented, and updated in a timely manner. This is what the author wishes to do in the new century.
