Features: To implement the "Archives Law of the People's Republic of China," further develop and utilize archival information resources, and more effectively serve economic construction and all aspects of society, our archive has compiled the "Dalian Municipal Archives Guide" (hereinafter referred to as "The Guide"). The Guide comprehensively introduces and reports on the basic conditions, archival holdings, and materials of the Dalian Municipal Archives. It serves as a reference tool for users to consult archives and materials. The framework and format of the Guide were primarily based on the "Archives Guide Compilation Standards" of the People's Republic of China, combined with the actual holdings of our archive. The archival holdings involved mainly consist of two parts: archival holdings from the People's Republic of China period and archival holdings from the old regime period. Archival holdings from the People's Republic of China period are categorized into four sections: Party committees and relevant departments, government and relevant departments, the CPPCC, democratic parties, the people's organizations, and others. Since the archival holdings of the Dalian Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government from 1946 to 1949 are relatively limited, they are introduced together with the archival holdings from the People's Republic of China period. Archival holdings from the old regime period are arranged in the order of their archival numbers. The materials section is divided into two categories: current materials and materials from the old regime period. Current materials are classified into 22 categories according to the "Chinese Bibliographic Classification," with each category introduced in detail. Materials from the old regime period are divided into 10 categories, each of which is also introduced in detail. To help users understand the holdings and facilitate consultation, the following points are specially noted:
1. The archival numbers mentioned in this book refer to the names of the archival units when the archives were deposited. However, due to changes in Dalian's name (from Dalian City to Dalian City on March 5, 1981), current units or those dissolved after 1981 are prefixed with "Dalian City," such as "Dalian City ××× Unit," while those dissolved before 1981 are prefixed with "Dalian City," such as "Dalian City ××× Unit."
2. The archival holdings mentioned in this book all refer to those deposited before February 1992. The number of archival series and volumes (materials) mentioned in the book are based on the holdings at the end of 1992.
3. The introduction of archival series in this book follows the requirements of the "Archives Guide Compilation Standards." Archival series with a large number of holdings are introduced categorically, while those with fewer holdings are introduced in a general manner.
4. All dates used in this book are in the Gregorian calendar.
5. The "Series of Archival Forming Units" in the appendix refers to archival holdings from the People's Republic of China period. It is compiled based on the hierarchical relationships between archival forming units or their internal institutions. Archival forming units without hierarchical relationships or those that have been dissolved are not included in this table.
