Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, China's tea production has made significant progress, contributing greatly to social development, especially in rural areas. Currently, 20 provinces and cities in China produce tea, among which Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Guangxi, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Tibet fall within the scope of China's Western Development Strategy. Overall, these regions have relatively favorable tea cultivation conditions and are currently China's most distinctive tea-producing areas, offering a diverse range of products with excellent natural quality. By selecting and introducing excellent tea varieties suitable for local ecological conditions and adopting scientific and reasonable cultivation and management measures, it is hoped that specialized and internationally and domestically competitive tea products can be developed, thereby rapidly and effectively improving the production level and economic benefits of tea in China's western regions and playing a significant role in the Western Development Strategy.
Yunnan Province introduces technical knowledge on excellent tea varieties, growth and development characteristics, propagation techniques, cultivation and tea garden management, as well as pest and disease control. To support the large-scale development of western agriculture through science and technology, our academy mobilized and organized relevant technical personnel across the institution to select over 50 advanced agricultural practical technologies suitable for widespread application in western regions from the thousands of scientific and technological achievements of our academy. These technologies were compiled into books and officially published by the China Agricultural Science and Technology Press to meet the demand for science and technology among the people in western regions, while also transforming our academy's scientific and technological achievements into practical productivity and contributing to the economic development of western China.
This series of books highlights three prominent features in terms of technology: scientific rigor, advanced innovation, and practical applicability. The selected technologies are of high quality and can generate significant economic benefits after promotion, helping farmers increase their income. At the same time, they are tailored to the ecological characteristics and production conditions of western regions, demonstrating strong targeting. The technologies are not only mature but also highly practical, easy to operate, and suitable for large-scale application. The language is concise, clear, and easy to learn, understand, and master.
