Features: This dictionary is compiled by the writing team of "Primary School Student Dictionary" according to various national standards for language and writing norms. It primarily serves primary school students, with a wide and extensive word selection, simple and clear definitions, and serves as one of the important reference books for primary school students' Chinese language learning. This dictionary is also suitable for primary school teachers and other readers with a basic level of education.
1. This dictionary includes most of the commonly used characters from the "Common Characters List of Modern Chinese" and common characters used in primary school Chinese textbooks and extracurricular reading materials in some regions. Mastering these common and frequently used characters and building vocabulary on this foundation can help primary school students achieve a relatively ideal level of character recognition, vocabulary, and Chinese language proficiency.
2. The main function of this dictionary is to guide primary school students to strengthen their understanding and accumulation of words after learning to recognize characters. The word selection is primarily based on the new round of primary school Chinese textbooks from PEP, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and other local editions, with a large word count closely related to primary school Chinese language learning. Nearly 10,000 frequently used, common, and relatively important words from the new textbooks and students' language are selected, with entries and definitions listed, while also providing guidance on usage.
3. The head characters are arranged in pinyin order. Homophones are arranged by stroke count from few to many; entries are arranged in pinyin order.
4. Characters that are visually identical but different in pronunciation and meaning are grouped under one head character and treated together, distinguished by ① and ②. Related polyphonic characters are separately marked in the pinyin-ordered head character list with "see xx page" to indicate correspondence. Polyphonic and polysemic characters generally only include commonly used pronunciations and meanings.
5. The meanings of characters or words generally only include commonly used meanings in Mandarin, excluding obscure meanings. Those with two or more meanings are marked with natural serial numbers. Meaning serial numbers are represented by ①, ②, ③, etc. Examples are provided through word combinations or phrases, separated by | between the meaning and example. Word combinations or phrases are separated by commas.
6. The dictionary generally combines character meaning annotations for word definitions; for common, frequently used, and relatively important words, separate entries are provided, with pinyin notation, part-of-speech marked, followed by definitions and examples. The meaning and example are separated by |. The dictionary primarily includes disyllabic words, with a small number of idioms. Definitions and example sentences are designed to align with the age and knowledge level of primary school students, emphasizing timeliness, simplicity, clarity, and conciseness.
7. The head characters in the main text of the dictionary are arranged in pinyin order, and a "Stroke Index" of head characters is appended at the end for flexible reference.
