Features: To commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between New China and African countries, in early 2006, the China-Africa Friendship Association and the China-Africa Friendship Association invited a group of senior diplomats who had long worked in Africa and current responsible comrades actively engaged in China-Africa work to write a book reviewing the 50-year history of friendly cooperation between China and Africa, titled "United as Gold – The Glorious Journey of China-Africa Friendship," which was published by the World Knowledge Publishing House. At the same time, to welcome the Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum and the Third Ministerial Conference to be held in November, the China-Africa Friendship Association, in conjunction with Beijing Hualike Technology Co., Ltd., one of the council members of the China-Africa Friendship Association, organized representatives of council members of the China-Africa Friendship Association and ambassadors from four countries—Nigeria, Ethiopia, Egypt, and South Africa—to write a series of articles that sincerely recorded exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa over the past 50 years in fields such as politics, economy, culture, education, health, peacekeeping, youth, women, and people-to-people exchanges. These articles were published in the "China-Africa Friendship" column of the People's Daily from August 1, 2006, to October 28, 2006, and received widespread praise from all sectors of society. To express our gratitude to the public for their concern and support for the work of the China-Africa Friendship Association and the China-Africa Friendship Association, we have re-edited and compiled these articles into a book, titled "Walking Hand in Hand – A Photographic Record of China-Africa Friendship," as a companion volume to "United as Gold – The Glorious Journey of China-Africa Friendship."
