Located within the urban area of Guiping in southeastern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Guiping Xishan Scenic Area was listed as a National Key Scenic Area in 1988. It was rated as a National AAAA Tourist Attraction and a National Geopark in 2003, and was honored as one of the "Top Ten" scenic spots in Guangxi in 2005. Xishan is renowned for its "Five Wonders": lush forests, peculiar rocks, sweet springs, fragrant tea, and sacred Buddhism. The area is home to over 1,500 famous ancient trees aged more than 100 years. The Ruxuan Spring water meets the standards for natural soft water, and Xishan Tea has been named one of China's top ten teas three times, receiving National Geographical Indication protection. Longhua Temple serves as the seat of the Guangxi Buddhist Association and is a sacred site for Lingnan Buddhism.
The scenic area covers a total area of 949.85 square kilometers, with a core area of 226.17 square kilometers, comprising seven major scenic zones including Xishan, Jintian, and Baishi. The new main gate, "Nantian Yilang," opened in 2016, featuring a 90-character couplet co-authored by Republic of China-era figures Kong Wenxuan and Zou Lu. During the May Day holiday in 2025, the 17th "Fortune-Filled Xishan" Water Splashing Cultural Series was held. Later that year, in September, the park temporarily closed due to the impact of Typhoon "Huajiasha."
Regarding transportation, visitors can reach the site by taking Bus No. 8 in the city center or by taxi. The entrance ticket includes access to key attractions such as Longhua Temple, and visitors can enjoy a 30% discount (paying 70% of the price) valid for three days by presenting their high-speed rail tickets. The management body, the Guiping Xishan Scenic Area Management Office, is a public welfare institution. Its 2024 budget expenditure was 10.4031 million yuan, focusing on the protection of famous ancient trees and scenic area marketing.
