Located on the southern coast of Beihai City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Beihai Silver Beach National Tourist Resort sits about 8 kilometers from the city center. Stretching from the Qiaogang Town fishing port in the west to Daguan Sha in the east, it comprises the West Zone, East Zone, and the sea beach area. As a National AAAA-level tourist attraction, it was officially designated as a National Tourist Resort on May 15, 2023. Covering a total area of 38 square kilometers (with 12 sq km of land), it boasts a 24-kilometer stretch of silvery-white beach. The beach width varies from 30 to 3,000 meters, renowned for its "long and flat shore, fine and white sand, clear and warm water, gentle waves, and no sharks." Established with State Council approval in 1992, it was selected as one of China's 35 "Ace Attractions" in 1995.
In 2018, the resort launched a "6 N" renovation project with a total investment of 2.7 billion yuan. This project built four major functional areas, including the Happy Harbor Zone and the Xiuying Chao Diao Zone, supported by the Chaojie Ecological Landscape Green Corridor, a smart tourism cloud data center, and three ocean-themed gates. The beach restoration project recovered 3.3 kilometers of coastline and introduced activities like jet skiing, sailboat sightseeing, and helicopter tours. Weekly tide sculpture music and light shows, along with beach-themed events, are held regularly. The surrounding area features four tourist distribution centers with parking for 6,000 vehicles and a fleet of 55 sightseeing cars for convenient transfers. In 2023, it was selected as one of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's "National Beautiful Bay" excellent cases.
In 2023, the resort received a record-breaking 13.22 million visitors. During the summer peak (July-August), it welcomed over 4.55 million tourists, while the 2024 Spring Festival holiday saw over 1.3243 million visits. The resort coordinates with surrounding areas to develop rural tourism projects like sea-combing sightseeing. Xiacun Village in Yintan Town was awarded the title of "China's Beautiful Leisure Village," forming a new business model that integrates fisheries, culture, agriculture, and tourism.
