Evolution of Chinese Painting - Cultural Mood. Space and Schema - Chinese Painting Library

Features: Contemporary art history expands to deeper and broader cultural studies. The Evolution of Chinese Painting aims to write history through cultural studies. Each chapter contains many insightful arguments, with some offering fresh perspectives. Especially Chapter 4, "Visual Translation Models and Aesthetic Tendencies," is something I particularly appreciate. Over the past decades, in my teaching and writing, I have often emphasized that the "brushwork and ink" of Chinese literati painting is about "translating" objects into a unique artistic language to express the artist's understanding of the world and subjective discoveries, as well as to create a distance and transcendence between art and reality. The humanistic spirit of Chinese art is not only reflected in its emotional and artistic connotations but also fully embodied in its expressive techniques. This book by Ziren was originally his master's thesis in 2003, titled: "Factors Related to the Evolution of Chinese Painting—Chinese Painting Cultural Attitudes and Spatiotemporal Image Representation." The title has now been simplified to The Evolution of Chinese Painting—Cultural Attitudes, Space, and Schema.
