Shangri-La

If you step into "Shangri-La" during the season of "apricot blossom rain that threatens to wet your clothes, and willow wind that does not chill your face," you will be greeted by a beautiful scene of picturesque mountains, rivers, and pastoral fields. The rippling Yanzi Lake is set amid vast expanses of green fields, like a young maiden's bright eyes full of tender affection. Willow trees droop along the lakeshore, gently brushing the water's surface. A huge waterwheel creaks as it turns, grinding away the years and singing the ancient ballads of the countryside. Looking into the distance, you see mountains afar, village trees shrouded in mist, crisscrossing field paths, and scattered houses, just like the peach blossom paradise described by Tao Yuanming—"fragrant grass fresh and beautiful, fallen blossoms colorful and abundant," "with fine fields, beautiful ponds, mulberry trees, and bamboo."

Opening hours: 8:30–17:30

Scenic area address: Yangshuo County

In a romantic legend, a place where peach blossoms bloom in full glory has embodied almost all the dreams of the Chinese people—no clamor of the city, no troubles of the mortal world. The legend remains only on paper. But in Guilin, China, along the osmanthus road toward Yangshuo, there is a place more beautiful and more real than the peach blossom spring—Shangri-La. Misty rain, green grass covering the hills, wildflowers, karst caves, and wooden buildings; a wind-and-rain bridge that embodies the noble qualities of a people, and ballads drifting through the emerald bamboo... All joys and all hardships find their resting place here. Shangri-La is located between Yangshuo and Guilin, and is one of the attractions that tourists have come to favor in recent years!
