Features: This album is a special collection of the fourth batch of outstanding historical buildings in Shanghai, recently announced. The selection process for this batch of buildings took over two years from nomination to announcement. During this period, the Shanghai Housing and Land Resources Administration Bureau and the Shanghai Urban Planning Administration organized the application process based on the "Shanghai Historical and Cultural Landscape Areas and Outstanding Historical Building Protection Regulations" (hereinafter referred to as the "Protection Regulations"). District and county real estate and planning departments organized nominations, professional departments conducted investigations, and information was widely collected from the public through media channels. After preliminary selection, in accordance with the procedures of the "Protection Regulations," opinions were sought from the Cultural Relics Committee, building owners, and district and county governments. Four expert review meetings were held successively, and public notifications were made through The Liberation Daily, The Xinmin Evening News, and the municipal government information network. Finally, the municipal government approved and announced the list on October 31, 2005. The selection process for outstanding historical buildings in Shanghai will continue, and it is expected to gradually establish a routine investigation and research mechanism to encourage public participation. Outstanding historical buildings that meet the standards will be announced by the municipal government in accordance with procedures.
