Chinese Religion and Christianity (New Cover)

Author: Wu Guanzhong

Publish Date: 2003-09-02
Features: The publication of this book is indeed the result of the efforts of many people. It was first co-authored by Qian Jiyi, who taught and researched the history of Chinese thought and religion at the University of Toronto in Canada, and Kong Hans, who taught and researched Western Christian theology at the University of Tübingen in West Germany. Kong Hans' original work was written in German, while Qian Jiyi's original work was written in English. However, before publishing the book, both of them gave academic lectures jointly at the University of Tübingen in West Germany and Rice University in Houston, Texas. Each time, Qian Jiyi was responsible for introducing and explaining Chinese religion, while Kong Hans was responsible for providing theological responses. The perspective this book aims to clarify is that the third major religious system in East Asia should be distinguished from the aforementioned two religions. This religious system originates from China, and its central figure is neither a prophet nor a mystic, but a sage; it is a philosophical religion.
