Starting from the first day of the next menstrual period, count backwards 14 days or subtract 14 days to find the ovulation day. The ovulation day and the 5 days before it and the 4 days after it together are called the ovulation period. The remaining days of the entire cycle, excluding the menstrual period and the ovulation period, are the safe period.
