Features: Currently, both the Chinese and Japanese governments place great importance on exchanges between young people. The fifth China-Japan Forum imposed stricter qualification requirements on participants. Considering that the language proficiency of some Chinese representatives in expressing ideas in Japanese is still improving, the organizers of the conference made corresponding adjustments to the language requirements. The conference still does not provide translation services, but Chinese representatives are requested to use Japanese as much as possible, while Japanese representatives are encouraged to use Chinese. The conference received more than 30 papers submitted by representatives. Reading these papers and listening to the representatives' speeches, it is not difficult to feel the sincere desire of young scholars from both China and Japan for the development of friendly relations between the two countries. Although the representatives from both sides had differing views on certain issues during the discussion and occasionally engaged in minor debates, they were united in recognizing that the major direction for the development of China-Japan relations in the 21st century is friendly cooperation, and that achieving this goal requires first strengthening mutual understanding. During this discussion session, the young representatives spoke freely, offering fresh and insightful perspectives. We invite readers to fully appreciate these contributions. Beyond the remarks above, there is little more to add regarding the views of the young scholars. I believe that among these energetic young representatives, a group of active promoters of China-Japan friendly relations will certainly emerge.
