Ethnic groups in Yunnan have created rich and diverse literature, each with its own history of literary development. Today, guided by historical materialism, to review the literary heritage of each ethnic group, reveal its inherent characteristics and developmental patterns, is of great significance for promoting excellent ethnic culture, building a literature that aligns with socialism with Chinese characteristics, enhancing national confidence and self-esteem, and fostering ethnic unity. Therefore, after the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Leading Group assigned this task to our institute, we regarded it as a top-priority research mission and quickly formed 16 research teams to commence the work.
