The mischievous Monkey King shouts at the horse, causing White Dragon Horse to dash over twenty miles with Tang Sanzang. Tang Sanzang encounters bandits on the road, and Monkey King arrives afterward, killing the robbers and saving Tang Sanzang. However, Tang Sanzang grows angry with Monkey King for killing too many people. Monkey King, frightened, seeks help from Guanyin Bodhisattva. Guanyin allows Monkey King to stay temporarily. Tang Sanzang and his disciples continue their journey. While Pigsy and Sandy are fetching food and water, Tang Sanzang is knocked unconscious by a fake Monkey King and robbed of his belongings. Sandy volunteers to go to Flower-Fruit Mountain to find Monkey King but sees someone identical to himself. Sandy fights against the fake disciples and, outnumbered, seeks help from Guanyin Bodhisattva. Guanyin leads Sandy and the real Monkey King to Flower-Fruit Mountain, but even Guanyin cannot distinguish between the real and fake. Unable to help, Guanyin takes both Monkey Kings to Heaven to seek the Jade Emperor, but even he cannot tell them apart. Eventually, the two Monkey Kings tear each other apart and stand before Tang Sanzang. Tang Sanzang still cannot tell them apart. Later, the two Monkey Kings arrive before the Buddha in Thunderclap Temple. The Buddha reveals the fake Monkey King's true nature, covers him with a golden bowl to make him reveal his original form, and then asks Guanyin to return the real Monkey King to Tang Sanzang.
