Butterfly: Originally named Hu Ruifang. Born in Shanghai, her original hometown was Heishan, Guangdong. In 1928, she played a beautiful and graceful leading role in "White Cloud Pagoda." After the film's completion, Butterfly received praise from millions of viewers. Following "White Cloud Pagoda," Butterfly starred in 20 films within five years, including "Burning Red Lotus Temple," "Love of Huang and Lu," "Red Tears Shadow," "Flowers of Freedom," "Falling and Solitary Bird," and the sound film "Red Peony," as well as "A Love of Laughter and Tears" (a six-part series). The film industry recognized her as a contemporary superstar. In 1933, the Shanghai press launched a competition to elect the "Film Queen," and Butterfly won the most votes, earning the title. Starting in 1933, Butterfly changed her style, starring in films such as "Raging Torrent," "Salt Tide," and "Cosmetics Market." Notably, in Zheng Zhengqiu's "Sisters," Butterfly played dual roles, setting a box office record, and the film became a classic of Chinese cinema. In 1935, Butterfly was invited to join a Chinese film delegation to attend the Soviet International Film Exhibition in Moscow. She later traveled to Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and other countries for inspections. In the early days of the War of Resistance Against Japan, she moved to Hong Kong and later returned to Chongqing. After 1965, she developed her career in Taiwan and moved to Canada in 1975. At the age of 81 (1989), she passed away. The last words of the "Film Queen" were, "The butterfly has flown away!" Butterfly's life was filled with emotions. In the 1920s, she became engaged to actor Lin Xuehuai and later married a bank clerk, Pan Yousheng. Du Yuesheng and Dai Li were once infatuated with Butterfly's beauty. Dai Li had a brief affair with her, living together for some time, but this relationship ended when Dai Li died in a plane crash, finally bringing this troubled affair to a close.
