Features: How to position the course "Data, Models, and Decision Making" and how to select its content are key issues for this textbook. It can be noted that, although the course appears to combine traditional operations research and management statistics on the surface, it is not simply a stack of several modules. The design of this course is the result of a comprehensive decision made by the National MBA Education Advisory Committee based on the educational objectives and teaching practices of MBA program students. As a textbook that adapts to this decision, the overall layout must reflect the essence of the course design and determine the guiding ideology of the textbook design. The cultivation of Master of Business Administration (MBA) in China has been going on for over a decade. From the first batch of MBA admissions in 1991, with fewer than 100 students enrolled at several universities, to the current situation where more than 60 higher education institutions across the country offer MBA programs, this reflects the adaptation of China's higher education management programs to the actual needs of talent in the market economy and the development of economic globalization. It also reflects the backdrop of significant transformation and transitional changes in China's economy, society, and education. Currently, in addition to the formal academic education MBA programs in universities, there are also business management education programs in society that focus primarily on skill training. The rapid rise of MBA education in China is, overall, a result of the surge in demand for practical business talents due to the swift transition from a planned economy system to a market economy system. It is also a microcosm of China's continuous opening-up, the adoption of more international practices in economic activities, and the gradual internationalization of management education. Despite this, the current scale of MBA programs in China is still far from meeting the needs of China's economic development.
