Schaum's Outline of Western Economics. Macro Edition. Micro Edition

Author: Zhang Donghui
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-04-01
Features: Compared to other versions, this book has the following distinct features:
1. Enhanced knowledge structure diagrams. At the beginning of each chapter, a knowledge structure diagram is used to illustrate the logical relationships, intrinsic connections, and developmental threads of the chapter's theories. This helps readers grasp the theory as a whole, correcting the tendency to memorize concepts and theoretical conclusions superficially while neglecting their internal connections when studying "Western Economics."
2. Clear learning objectives. In the "Guide" format, the main knowledge points required for undergraduate teaching are listed for each chapter. Around these key points, the main content is elaborated in as concise language, formulas, and necessary diagrams as possible, enabling readers to grasp the key points and distinguish between the framework and details of the textbook content.
3. Strengthened key and difficult points. In terms of exercise design, this book employs six types of questions—nomenclature explanations, true/false, multiple-choice, short answers, calculations, and essays—to reinforce the key and difficult points from multiple perspectives. It does not pursue balance across chapters but dedicates ample space to important theories and difficult points, while also striving to cover other key knowledge points.
4. More representative exercises. During the writing process, this book primarily referenced the exercise sets of classic international economics textbooks, supplemented by exercises from popular domestic "Western Economics" textbooks. It also includes selected recent postgraduate entrance examination questions from key universities and certain "Western Economics" questions from comprehensive professional examinations for applicants with equivalent academic qualifications.
5. Appendix: Glossary. To enhance the reference function of the book, an alphabetical glossary of important terms is appended at the end for easy reference.
6. Separation of theory overview and exercise set in format. The exercise set effectively reinforces key knowledge, while the theory overview distills the essence of each chapter, helping readers quickly clarify the system of "Western Economics." This is particularly important for exam-oriented learners. All exercises are provided with answers and targeted brief analyses. This book is designed as a supplementary reference for the second editions of Professor Zhang Donghui's "Microeconomics" and "Macroeconomics."
