Features: This book, edited by the China Institute of Architects and the Beijing Road Working Group of the International Union of Architects (UIA), compiled by the "Architectural Creation" Magazine, published by Tianjin University Press, and presented to the 21st International Conference of World Architects in Berlin, aims to comprehensively and authentically showcase over 170 entries from 10 countries in the "International Student Architectural Design Competition in the Asia-Oceania Region," organized by UIA Zone IV. It is believed that designers both at home and abroad will find a rich and diverse collection of works, reflecting the understanding of the Beijing Charter by participating students from various countries and the creators' emphasis on social, technological, and environmental issues. Although only 39 entries received first, second, or third prizes, as well as excellence and encouragement awards, this book allows us to discover many shared cultural characteristics before the youth of the world, which is the hope for the development of global architectural culture. Whether in China or abroad, cultural heritage is an irreplaceable and scarce resource. Protecting cultural heritage is not only a key aspect of sustainable development but also an indispensable issue in architectural creation. However, in some regions, the lack of long-term vision and awareness of protection has led to severe shortages in funding for cultural heritage preservation. In other areas, short-sightedness and a focus on immediate economic benefits have driven exploitative development without regard for the carrying capacity of cultural heritage, resulting in irreversible losses. A significant portion of the works in this collection focuses on the theme of tradition and modernity.
