1. Multi-attribute. Multi-attribute refers to the content studied in insurance science, which belongs to both social sciences and natural sciences. It is a comprehensive management science that integrates social sciences and natural sciences.
2. Breadth. Breadth refers to the wide range of content studied in insurance science. Since the subject of insurance is broad, all aspects of social production and various industries need insurance; insurance professionals must deal with various natural disasters and accidents, and also cooperate with various departments to improve disaster prevention and loss control.
3. Legal nature. The conclusion and performance of insurance contracts are based on civil law and contract law. Foreign insurance businesses also have close relationships with private international law, international commercial law, and maritime law. Therefore, insurance studies include a considerable amount of legal content.
4. Practicality. Insurance studies are primarily an applied discipline, with a significant portion of its content being practical, which must be mastered through practice. The content studied in insurance science can be roughly divided into the following four parts: (1) Basic theories of insurance; (2) Insurance mathematics and statistics; (3) Insurance operations and management; (4) Specific theories of insurance. The content of this book is divided into three main parts: basic theories of insurance, specific theories of insurance, and insurance operations, providing a systematic discussion of the principles of insurance. For insurance majors, this is an introductory course in insurance studies; for students of other majors, it provides a general overview of insurance studies. In teaching, emphasis can be placed on professional characteristics.
