Features: Water is calm by itself, and a mirror is clean by itself. The human mind is the same—once the clutter in the heart is removed, a naturally clear mind will emerge. Therefore, happiness does not need to be deliberately sought. As long as all suffering and worries are excluded from the heart, happiness will be everywhere. In real life, many pains and worries come from within, meaning we argue with ourselves. If one can understand that these thoughts are unnecessary in such situations, the heart naturally becomes light. If truly unhappy things occur, there is no need to harm oneself in sorrow. Only by letting go of all worries can one gain the strength to face and resolve them—planting grass that forgets worries, blooming flowers of smiles.
Let go of distractions, let go of worries;
Let go of distractions, let go of desires in the heart.
If you cannot control the desires in your heart and allow them to run wild, then various desires will grow deep within you, spreading like weeds, intertwining and knotting, inevitably bringing you pain and misfortune. Material desires, desires for profit, selfish desires, greed, ambition, and other psychological clutter accumulate in the mind like garbage, making the mind feel extremely heavy and exhausted. The pressure caused by these mental clutter brings endless troubles and frustrations, even misfortune and disasters. This is truly a matter of seeking trouble for oneself. Let go of all worries, let go of selfish thoughts, and return to an ordinary heart! Let go of the unpleasant things piled up in your heart, discard all the mental burdens, and live a happier life—wouldn’t that be better?
Moreover, only when you are still can you understand what distractions are. If you have never been still, you will not know how hard it is to control them once they surge. That is why in the book Zhuangzi, distractions are described as "wild horses, dust." Distractions are like wild horses—difficult to tame, and like dust—present everywhere. So, how can they be removed? As long as you truly sit in meditation, your mind will be as calm as water, free of any thoughts. Meditation allows you to continuously discover and remove distractions. Only by doing this can you maintain a high level of rationality when facing things, thereby gaining the true essence of life. P3-4
