Features: Based on the selection of entries from the first edition, this book adds new terms reflecting the latest developments in various aspects of the petrochemical industry. It contains over 8,200 entries, demonstrating novelty, common usage, and accuracy. The book covers more than ten fields, including petroleum refining, petrochemical raw materials, synthetic liquid fuels, synthetic plastics, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubbers, fine chemicals, economic management, equipment, instruments and process control, safety, and environmental protection. This book is positioned as a comprehensive reference tool for the petrochemical industry.
In the English-Chinese section, each entry includes the English name, International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) notation, and Chinese translation. English names with abbreviations are noted in parentheses. The Chinese translations selected are the most commonly used, with the principle of one word per meaning. In cases where one word has two meanings and they belong to different fields, they are separated by a semicolon (;). If they belong to the same field, they are separated by a comma (,). When it is necessary to specify the field of certain Chinese translations, square brackets [ ] are used. The spelling of English terms follows British English, and the phonetic notation is also British.
The book also includes six appendices, covering commonly used petrochemical English abbreviations, major global petrochemical companies, petrochemical proprietary technology terms, key petrochemical organizations, commonly used petrochemical journals, and common unit conversions.
