A stove of smoke and fire

Features: Over the past decade, the author has experienced the vicissitudes of life, which has been very beneficial for writing the articles collected in this volume. Borrowing words from Gan Yang quoting Walter Benjamin, it is said that modern writers have a cultural symbiotic relationship with the streets and alleys of cities, "A writer must always be ready to welcome the next rumor, the next witty remark, or the next unexpected event in urban life." Just by looking at some of the titles of the articles collected in this volume, such as "This Store Does Not Beat Customers," "The Mother in a T-shirt," and "A Study of the 'Used Wife'," one can see that I am indeed qualified to be a "modern cultural figure." Except for the third volume "Footprints of the Past," the rest of the collections are new works from the past two years. The articles in the third volume were selected from four collections published by Sanmin Book Company: "A Fragrance of the Subtle" (1990), "Unable to Forget" (1992), "The Massage of the Soul" (1993), and "Peeping into Heaven" (1995).
