(formerly known as Chongqing Wildlife World) is located in Yongchuan District, Chongqing, and is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. Covering an area of over 5,000 mu (approx. 330 hectares) with a total investment of 3 billion RMB, it is a large comprehensive tourist resort in western China.
Centered around the theme of "animals," the park is a large-scale eco-tourism site integrating wildlife protection, captive breeding, eco-tourism, science education, animal rescue, and leisure and entertainment. It is home to the world's only and China's first free-range area for golden and white tigers, as well as China's first free-range area for Australian animals and the African animal free-range area with the largest one-time introduction of species in China. The park boasts rich animal diversity, with over 430 species and more than 30,000 rare wild animals introduced from 14 countries across five continents, among which 260 species and over 10,000 individuals are listed under CITES Appendix I, II, or are under China's national key protection.
History and Culture
In 2000, the National Forestry Administration approved the establishment of the national-level wildlife eco-tourism park – Chongqing Wildlife World. In December 2003, it was rated as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. In April 2007, it was transferred to the Chongqing Jiaotou Group.
In 2013, the Chongqing Lehe Ledu Theme Park held its opening ceremony, having been upgraded from the original wildlife world. On March 8, 2018, it was officially renamed Chongqing Lehe Ledu Animal Theme Park, and in the same year, it was selected as a "National Base for Primary and Secondary School Students' Study and Practice Education." In 2023, the park introduced four giant pandas – "Qinghua," "Qinglu," "Qiaoyue," and "Ailian" – from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
Main Attractions
Drive-through Area
Visitors can choose self-driving, or take a feeding observation vehicle or a sightseeing bus. The drive-through route passes through ten zones: African Savannah, Eurasia, Wolf Zone, Bear Zone, African Lion Zone, Bengal Tiger Zone, Harmonious Lion-Tiger Garden, Golden & Silver Tiger Zone, Mountain Wolf Zone, and Australian Bush, allowing close encounters with wild animals.
Walk-through Area
Covering 1,800 mu (approx. 120 hectares), this is a mountain-style zoo in China. It is arranged by animal categories including primates, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, with multiple enclosures such as the Lion-Tiger House, Rhinoceros-Hippo House, Squirrel Monkey House, Chimpanzee House, and Rare Bird House. Visitors can also see the four giant pandas "Qinghua," "Qinglu," "Qiaoyue," and "Ailian" in the Slow Life Manor.
Happy World
Comprising eight zones – Fountain of Wisdom, Persian Mists, Storm Harbor, King Kong Mountain, Dream Flying Workshop, Magic Forest, Happy Lilliput, and Dolphin Theater – it features over 30 amusement rides, as well as themed performances including the "Royal Circus" and the large-scale dolphin live show "Dolphin Alliance."
Water Park
Open during summer, it covers over 30,000 square meters and is located next to the Eskimo Ice & Snow World. It features areas such as a wave pool, Jungle Rush slides, Tahiti Water Fort, and Ocean Elf Children's Splash Pool, offering visitors a cool summer experience.
Suggested Itinerary:
Start with the drive-through area – choose self-driving or take the park's sightseeing bus or feeding vehicle to experience the thrill of close encounters with predators, passing through the ten zones in sequence. Then head to the walk-through area to visit the primate, amphibian, reptile, bird, and mammal zones, and stop by the Slow Life Manor to see the giant pandas. In the afternoon, go to Happy World for rides and catch the "Royal Circus" or "Dolphin Alliance" shows. If visiting in summer, set aside time for the Water Park.
Tips:
Check the park's official website or WeChat public account in advance for animal show times and ride availability to plan your schedule.
Wear comfortable sports shoes for long walks as the park is large.
In summer, bring sunscreen, hats, etc., as some areas have limited shade.
Bring snacks and drinking water – though there are dining facilities, carrying your own can be convenient.
For families with children, introduce some animal facts beforehand to enhance the fun and educational value.

Smoking and open flames are strictly prohibited to prevent fires and protect wildlife habitats.
Stay on designated routes; do not enter closed or off-limit areas.
Respect the animals; do not feed them with outside food, as it may harm their health or cause danger.
Keep the environment clean; do not litter.
Follow staff instructions and safety rules when using amusement facilities.
When driving into the drive-through area, keep windows closed, do not get out of the vehicle, and follow staff directions.
Transportation:
Public transport: Take a high-speed train or bullet train from downtown Chongqing to Yongchuan East Station, then take Bus No. 303 or 501 to the park.
Self-driving: From downtown Chongqing, take the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway or Yurong Expressway, exit at Yongchuan Interchange, and follow navigation to the park. The drive takes about 1 hour.
