Patient's question:
I have been on medication for 13 days and have seen white, cotton-like substances coming out.But there are no blood clots, and it hasn’t been bleeding for the past two days. However, today there was sudden bleeding, but it was very minimal.
I want to know what’s happening—is it because it’s not completely cleaned out?
If so, are there other methods besides D&C? Can I avoid it?
Do I need to take any medication?
Thank you

Doctor's answer:
Vaginal bleeding after a miscarriage generally lasts for 7-10 days, with a maximum duration not exceeding 15 days. If the bleeding duration is prolonged, the amount of bleeding exceeds that of a normal menstrual period, or if accompanied by significant abdominal pain, it may indicate infection or incomplete miscarriage. It is recommended to seek medical examination. It is also advisable to check whether the miscarriage is incomplete or if the uterine contractions are insufficient. Further treatment may be required, such as uterine aspiration, anti-inflammatory therapy, and hemostatic treatment. Medications to promote uterine contractions may also be used.
