Features: With the rapid development of molecular biology and immunology technologies and their widespread application in pulmonary immunology research, our understanding of the basic and clinical immunology of the lungs, especially the pathogenesis of various respiratory immune-related diseases, has been constantly advancing. However, no systematic academic monograph on pulmonary basic immunology and immune-related diseases has been published in China so far. Therefore, we invited experts and scholars with deep expertise in related fields to compile the book "Immunology of the Lung and Immune-Related Diseases." This book is divided into four parts and fifty-eight chapters. Part I introduces the fundamental immunological theories related to pulmonary physiology and pathophysiology, including airway epithelial cells, lymphocytes, eosinophils, neutrophils, mast cells and basophils, macrophages, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, immunoglobulins, immune complexes and complement, lipid mediators, pulmonary surfactant, nitric oxide, endothelin, and others, totaling twenty-three chapters. Part II introduces research methods for studying airway and pulmonary immunity, including animal models of pulmonary immune-related diseases, diagnosis of allergic diseases, assessment of airway reactivity and reversibility, exhaled breath analysis, and others, comprising seven chapters. Part III explores the pathogenesis of pulmonary immune-related diseases, including pulmonary complications of human immunodeficiency virus infection/AIDS, pulmonary infections and immunity, tuberculosis and immunity, immunological mechanisms of acute respiratory distress syndrome, airway inflammation and remodeling in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and others, totaling eight chapters. Part IV provides detailed discussions on various pulmonary immune-related diseases, including eosinophilic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, diffuse panbronchiolitis, obliterative bronchiolitis with organizing pneumonia, extrinsic allergic alveolitis, pulmonary eosinophilic infiltration syndrome, pulmonary allergic granulomatosis vasculitis, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hemorrhage-nephritis syndrome, pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis, pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis, bronchial and pulmonary amyloidosis, Wegener's granulomatosis, and others, totaling twenty chapters.
